Why You Need to Mark Your Golf Ball?

Why You Need to Mark Your Golf Ball?

Everyone knows the Rules 6-5 and Rule 12-2 states: “The responsibility for playing the correct ball rests with the player. Each player should put an identification mark on his ball.” It’s not a must or compulsory to place a mark on your golf ball, but it could stop you playing the wrong ball, just by adding a spot or even a smiley face on it.

Sometime markings you ball might even help your game. Be it with a ring around the circumference to help you line up putts or use it as a aid to aim down the fairway on tee shot.

Here's how some of tour golfer mark their golf balls:

Adam Scott

He used the Southern Cross, the five strs depicted on the right half of the Australian national flag.

Jason Day

He marked the dot right by the number like most of players do. Clear and simple.

We've got a great example from Sometimes Right Golf. That's a really good one!
